Kathryn Kitto specialises in treating people with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety. Healing Souls is a non-denominational organisation and is about helping people to heal from the past, at what sometimes feels like the soul level, so that they can feel they are able to live the lives they really want.

Healing Souls was founded in 2009 by Kathryn Kitto after realising that she wanted to reinvent her life and create a lifestyle that focused on not only helping others, but also was balanced and in alignment with her own values and passions.

Kathryn has had a keen interest in helping others find their own balance and positive mental health for over 25 years, starting with her studies in Psychology as part of her Bachelor of Arts in 1993. Kathryn specialises in psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy and hypnotherapy to help clients find greater happiness in their lives.

Psychotherapy and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy
Kathryn uses Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help clients overcome distress patterns. These distress patterns may result in anxiety, panic attacks, feelings of powerlessness, or in relief behaviours, such as smoking, comfort eating, drinking or avoidance of situations. By working with the client, and using the CBT Map to find out triggers, feelings and thought patterns, the client will find they have greater empowerment and choice about their behaviours and reactions. The client is then able to work these new desired behavioural outcomes into their subconscious through the use of Hypno-psychotherapy.

Scars are only a reminder of our past;
         they don’t have to dictate where we are going...

During Hypno-psychotherapy, the client allows him/herself to enter a state of relaxation called hypnosis or trance, during which there is a high degree of focussed attention on the core issues of behaviour. Then during the hypnosis, the mind relaxes and lowers its guard by minimising interference from the critical judgmental conscious mind, allowing the therapist to communicate directly with the subconscious mind.

It is the subconscious mind that controls our habits and automatic behaviours, and therefore, by working with it on a psycho-therapeutic level, the therapist helps the client to create new thought and behavioural patterns for themselves. This process is completely safe. The client is fully aware of everything happening, and is able to leave the hypnotic state at any time. The client is not asleep, just extremely relaxed.
